Captain Hollinger was a member of Headquarters, Military Assistance Command, Vietnam. On December 14, 1971, he was a passenger in a Beech Ute Utility Aircraft (U-21A) on an administration mission from Phu Bai to Da Nang, South Vietnam. The aircraft lost one of its engine, caught fire and crashed. His remains were not recovered.
