her second patrol (26-MAR-1944–15-MAY-1944) for rescuing 22 downed U.S. Navy carrier pilots who had been shot down during the battle of Truk Atoll. |

for the following patrols: 22-JAN-1944–03-MAR-1944; 08-JUN-1944–14-JUL-1944; 31-JUL-1944–03-SEP-1944; 27-SEP-1944–24-OCT-1944 |
Each crew member of USS TANG was also awarded the Navy Air Medal by Admiral William F. Halsey for rescuing the downed Navy pilots during her second combat patrol.
